It was director Rob Marshall's intention, right from the beginning, to use hand-drawn animation for the film's animation sequences. This was due to his love for hand-drawn animation and also to pay homage to the first film. The Disney executives, on the other hand, initially wanted the film to have computer animation for its animated sequences, which infuriated Marshall. He then fought hard to convince the Disney executives to let him use hand-drawn animation, and he also argued why it would be the right choice to use for the film. When I went with my mom, Nana and mother in law, the audience in my theatre were all clapping
Together at the end. I liked that the animation was similar to the original, and I agree the songs weren't catchy and it's hard to remember them, but it was still a movie that made you smile and feel like a kid again. You could hear the original songs In the background of some scenes which was very cool if you were listening. It was just a feel good film to enjoy with the family. A lot of work was put into this you can tell.
